Hold on to your dreams!

Everyone has dreams. Dreams of what they aspire to be. Dreams of what they want to accomplish. Dreams of places they want to arrive at. But many times, their aspirations and goals remain just distant dreams, seemingly unattainable.
I always aspired to be an English teacher, many people tried to put me off. They said that it is too hard for a native Israeli to teach English, and more so that for a young girl like me, it will be almost impossible to control a rowdy group of today's kids who are not interested in learning a second language. But, I held on to my dreams, I knew I could do it and didn’t let anyone put a dampner on my hopes.
Standing before my first class of 6th grade boys, where some boys looked like they wanted to be  anywhere but in the classroom,
I felt my confidence ebbing
I started thinking that everybody was right and that I could not do this.
Was I crazy for taking this job?   But after a minute, I regained my composure. I breathed in and out and told myself, "This is a challenge; no challenge is easy, but hard doesn’t mean impossible".
Today I enter my classroom and observe with pride as my students are well behaved, ready to learn and show joy in mastering a new language.
I am thankful that I am making my dream a reality.
My message to all of you is never give up, keep on dreaming and follow your dreams, because "hard doesn’t mean impossible".

English Music when I was in elementary school, my sister often listened to English songs. We all enjoyed it though I especially loved David Bowie's music. I used to listen to his music at every opportunity that I had and wanted to understand every single word in English that appeared in the songs. I fell in love with the language and started to explore it throughout my childhood. Today, when I teach english, I always tell my pupils to listen and enjoy English songs, to search for words that they don't know and even play the songs again and again and sing along. I am proud to say that they share with me their favorite songs, bring them to class and listem to them during their breaks. I must also remark that my love to music has passed to all my children and they listen to English music on a regular basis. As a result, they all have a wonderful vocabulary, they speak fluently and they spread their love for English music everywhere.

HOW I DECIDED TO BECOME A TEACHER I was born in Moscow. At the age of seven I entered a regular elementary/secondary school. When we were in the 4th grade our administration decided to change the status of the school. So, it became a Special English school. My parents had to make a decision whether to continue or to change the school, my father knew German, my mother - French. And my grandmother spoke Yiddish. Nobody knew English, we didn't have any digital tools at that time, they were afraid that they would not be able to help me. But I was an excellent pupil and they decided to take a risk and rely on me and the teachers who persuaded them to let me stay. It was a hard school period because we had to pass the programme of three years in one year. But we succeeded. Our young English teachers were so nice, so professional, the lessons were so interesting that I fell in love with English and with a profession. Homogeneous Cllassrooms

  Teachers are well aware of the challenges and hardships in trying teach a class of verious level of understanding and skills It is especially hard to teach a language to a class where different  .students have mastered the language at different level       Take, for example, an average fourth grade class: some kids    are reading fluently, some are saying  .full sentences in English and some barely recognize the A B C 's The kids who are struggling and cannot follow the lesson tend to disrupt  the class, which makes it hard to teach the brighter, motivated students To deal with this problem my school has instituted a system problem to minimize this phenomena In the younger grade when we first introduce our students to the English language and to the basics of reading we have two teachers simultaneously in the classroom One teacher teaches the majority of the students while the second teacher focuses on the weaker stud...
